Max Greene
Max Greene first began the martial arts at the age of 5 years old in Tae Kwon-Do. Throughout his teens he continued with this at a competitive level, while cross training in several other systems including Jujitsu and Muay Thai. Since then he has achieved black belts in Tae Kwon-Do, Chung Do Kwan Karate and Ao Denkou Jitsu. Although these martial arts still play an important part in his training, it was his passion for the classical martial arts that inspired him to begin teaching.
Max believes that the primary goal of the martial arts should be to teach effective self defence, and so this is always the core focus in any of his classes (though he still instructs many of the sporting aspects of the arts.)
To date, Max has varying levels of experience in Tae Kwon-Do, Karate, Ao Denkou Jitsu, Muay Thai, Jujitsu, Judo, Aikido, Krav Maga, 5 Animals Kung Fu, Bagua, Kali and 5 Systems of Silat (Suffian, Harimau, Kari, Serak, Serah Tulen).
Max is the president and chief instructor of CREST Martial Arts and the University of Edinburgh Self Defence Society, and is also the founder of "The Martial Arts Forum" - Facebook's most successful eclectic martial arts group.
Stuart Finlay
Stuart
started his martial arts training in Wado Ryu Karate. He began his
training in classical and mixed martial arts with Max through his son
Kieren. After working his way up through the grades, Stuart and Max
became regular training partners - working closely with one another to
develop their skills in the many areas of the martial arts.
Stuart is particularly strong in the ground fighting aspect of the
martial arts, and regularly teaches this in his classes along with the
standard curriculum.
